You may not know how to visualize, but what if I told you that you’re already doing it without even knowing or trying to? We all try to imagine or predict how things in our life will go. We are visualizing our future through the emotions that we have about future situations, through the pictures we create in our mind, and by trying to be in control of our situations.
Rather than visualizing how things could go wrong and creating feelings of fear, I am going to teach you how to visualize with intention so that you can create your dream life. You can use visualization to design your life and what you experience. Think back to getting in touch with your inner child and using your imagination – that’s a huge part of visualization, and I’m excited to share it with you!
What is Visualization?
Visualization is creating images in your mind, and mentally rehearsing what you want to happen in your life. Through daily, intentional practice, you will begin to manifest things in your life that take you on the path to your visualization coming true. Manifesting is when things become true – when your visualization becomes your reality. It’s bringing your visualized experiences, emotions, and/or material items into your life.
As I mentioned earlier, when you are learning how to visualize, think of it as using your imagination. You are creating theories for what you want to happen in your mind, and manifesting them through repetition – repeated practice of your visualizations. Your mind doesn’t know the difference between what is real and what is imagined, so when you visualize, your subconscious mind will encode this new picture as if it actually happened already. When visualizing, you will always need to visualize in the present tense, as if it’s already your reality right now.
How Does Visualization Work?
We as humans are made up of energy. All energy emits certain vibrations or frequencies, and in humans, our vibrations or frequencies are determined by our thoughts, emotions, and feelings. When we are feeling negative and sad, we are emitting low vibrations, but when we are feeling positive and happy, we are emitting high and positive vibrations. Ever hear “good vibes only”? This phrase refers to the vibrations that we give off based on our mood and emotions. Our emotions and feelings at any moment can be traced back to the thoughts that we are having about a situation or circumstance [link to emotions blog article]. Changing our thoughts is also how we change our emotions, which will in turn change our body’s vibrations. Changing thoughts and emotions are both very important components of visualizing and manifesting.
So what does this have to do with visualization? Well, we are like human magnets. Whatever frequency or vibration we are giving off is what we are attracting into our life. This is also known as the Law of Attraction. When you are in low vibration, you are attracting more low vibration situations into your life. But when you are in high vibration, or in a vibration that aligns with your visualizations, that is how you begin to attract those visualizations into your life. This is all a form of science known as quantum physics. Through consistent practice with intention, emotions, and beliefs, you will manifest your dream life. You will begin to build confidence, keep your mind focused on your desired results, and pave the way for you to intuitively move in the direction of your goals.
Examples of Successful Visualization
There are so many people in the world successfully using visualization to create their dream lives. I want to share examples of a few very well-known celebrities that have used visualization and talk about their success with it.
Walt Disney used visualization to create his entire empire. He called it “imagineering” and was quoted saying, “if you can dream it, you can do it,”
Oprah Winfrey credits positive thinking and the law of attraction to her success.
Will Smith has told himself he was an A-List Hollywood Star for as long as he can remember before it was actually his reality, visualizing it to become true.
